What’s the best course to learn spanish as an adult?

November 1, 2008 by Admin

Rosetta Stone? Bilingual America? Something else?
(There’s no college in the area)

There is no “best course” that will make you fluent in spanish.

A combination of courses can help you a great deal though

i.e.
pimsleur, rocket spanish, rosetta stone. Try to read my tips on learning the Spanish language to get things going.

Rosetta Stone is about as good as there has been or might ever be.

Personally, I would take a class at a local community college.

Live in Houston, Texas. You'll have no choice but to speak spanish.

It's funny that you should ask that question because I'm thinking about taking Spanish also. I did take it when I was in the 8th grade but I forgot it. I grew up around lots of Puerto Rican people so I should know Spanish but I forgot. I know a few words. I don't know a site where you can look though.

i'm not sure there's such a thing as a "best course". you may want to start out with something like "Spanish For Dummies", or "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Learning Spanish", and combine that with internet resources. or maybe rely only on the wealth of free stuff that's out there on the net. (although, some people i've talked to like the Pimsleur. (http://www.pimsleurapproach.com/learn-spanish.asp)

i'd also recommend reading barry farber's book: "How to Learn Any Language: Quickly, Easily, Inexpensively, Enjoyably and on Your Own", for an interesting personal narrative and language learning methodology that doesn't require any significant budget. (i know barry, and his skills do attest to his methods!)

    good luck!
