It's hard to learn a new language, even if you're really into it. I suggest you pick up a few Spanish books to get started and then have some Spanish speakers you know help you. Although there are different dialects in Spanish (just as in any other language), don't worry so much about that. If you know the basics of the language, you should be able to be understood fairly well.
