is learning the spanish language hard or easy?

October 24, 2008 by Admin · 15 Comments

im just wondering to people who speak english then learned spanish is it hard?

That depends on the person. Some very smart people have trouble learning a foreign language, while some of lower intelligence do extremely well.
One thing to remember about the Spanish language, is that not all Spanish speakers use the same accent. I originally learned Latin-American Spanish, and one of my teachers spoke with the Castillian accent. I couldn't understand much of what she said.
The easiest way to learn a language is to study a short time every day, as opposed to a long time every once in a while.
Just remember- Spanish is not a class you can cram for.

What's the best place in Tampa, Florida to take a Spanish course (to learn Spanish) in the evenings?

October 22, 2008 by Admin · 5 Comments

I know USF's continuing education department offers courses from time to time, though apparently not at the moment. Just wondering what else might be available.

Probably the best course for the money would be from Hillsborough Community College (HCC).

How to Learn Spanish in Less than 2 Months?

October 22, 2008 by Admin · 9 Comments

If I can learn Spanish in under 2 months, I get a huge raise. I am planning on hiring a Colombian chick, I know to teach me Spanish. What are the best programs/ebooks for learning Spanish? Besides hiring a tutor, do you have any other recommendations?

I am currently taking a Conversational Spanish course at the local community college and the teacher said that Rosetta Stone, while expensive, is an excellent program for learning the language. If the raise is that huge, it would be worth the investment.

If I were you, I wouldn't hire the Colombian right away unless she is a teacher. Think about it – if you had to teach someone to speak English, would you know where to start or how to go about it? It's difficult without a plan. For example, I have taken Spanish classes before but they were not conversational, like the one I'm taking now. I'm finally learning how to put together sentences and learning the most useful vocabulary words to know. It's very different because of the focus.

Another tip the teacher gave which seemed to help several classmates: watch the soap operas on the Spanish channels. You can get used to hearing the words spoken and turn on the subtitles to see the words.

Good luck.

What is the best Spanish course (Latin American) to get?

October 20, 2008 by Admin · 2 Comments

I have investigated "Rosetta Stone" but that is way, way expensive! Then I saw and investigated "Rocket Spanish" which doesn't seem as professional, and might be a little redundant (what do I expect for $99?) Any suggestions? Who has actually tried something and succeeded? I'm not good at learning languages usually, but I want to give it a try. I live in Southern California and would love the advantage of knowing Spanish, as opposed to "Spanglish", if you get my drift.
Thanks!

i could teach you for free over email if you wanted

What is the best way to learn spanish beside rosetta stone?

October 20, 2008 by Admin · 10 Comments

I want to learn spanish but the price of rosetta stone is too steep. I would like to know from a Spanish speaker’s point of view but others are welcome. Are their any good free alternatives?

thanks you

I think the old fashioned way is best. Take a class. Learn the basics: pronouns, conjugation, tenses. Once you have the basics down, you can teach yourself although it is easier if you are around spanish speaking people and you are brave enough to speak to them. Just keep practicing and adding to your vocabulary. I took basic spanish classes in high school, then later learned to speak fluently by conversing with other people.

how to find a someone whom I can share the spanish language?

October 20, 2008 by Admin · 7 Comments

I am interested in learning spanish, but I want to have someone i can communicate in spanish with to help me retain the language. I have learned a few things, and I have invested in discs and other learning material, but i would like to establish an interaction of speaking spanish, between two people, so that i can really learn the language. Any suggestions?

1.Watch the news in Spanish. This is a good exercise because you will always have a context. Watch the film as you listen to the story.

2.Watch Spanish-language films. You can read the subtitles and listen at the same time.

3.Eavesdrop. When you hear people speaking in Spanish try to understand what they are saying to each other.

4.Be fearless. When you are in a setting in which you can use your Spanish just do it. Most Spanish-speakers are glad to help and happy you are trying.

5.Look for things written in Spanish in your home (e.g. instructions for appliances) and see how much you understand. This is a good way to learn new vocabulary.
