What is the easiest way to learn Spanish?

February 14, 2008 by Admin · 4 Comments

I want to learn Spanish and have several cd’s for computer that I like. What should I learn if I am going to Mexico?
The easiest way is to live in a Spanish speaking country. Seriously. That’s how I learned. If that isn’t possible I would recommend Pimsleur over Rosetta. I have used both to learn Portuguese and find the Pimsleur method to be superior. It concentrates more on actual conversations while Rosetta goes more towards individual sentences or words. However, both methods offer a very comprehensive package to get you started. Along the way you will need some books on grammer as Spanish tenses are much more complicated than in English. Ditto with pronouns.  Buena suerte.

Where can I volunteer or work abroad and learn spanish?

February 4, 2008 by Admin · 3 Comments

I’m going to be graduating in December, hopefully, and I want to volunteer or work abroad and learn spanish while doing it. I understand a lot of spanish, but can hardly speak it. I was thinking of the peace corps, but that is a very long commitment. I want to go for about a year if that is at all possible. Anyone have any ideas? Graduating from college with a bachelors in communication… Anyone have any good ideas?
VSO http://www.vso.org.uk/ (Based in the UK, takes volunteers from anywhere, has a six-month “programme” for people 18 – 25) I knew VSO’s when I was in the Peace Corps 30 years ago. They are a solid, well-known organization.
